System Problem for external commands

Post by uhiadmin »

Customer ID: 31789
1. Cent OS 5.5
2. 64 Bit
3. Nagios XI Manual Install
4. Gnome installed

To Nagios XI Support Team:
During Sunday evening, I encountered a "configuration error" after applying it on the 34th switch configuration. It was pretty much running smooth all day until that last switch configuration. Our Nagios XI is now updated to Nagios XI 2011R1.3. Yesterday and today, the monitor has been performing fine. After I restarted the Nagios Server, I noticed a "System Problem" alert for "External Commands" under Process Settings heading. How do we fix our monitoring engine process issue?

Reading through the log, it looks like there is an error on line 14 of the /usr/local/nagios/etc/hosts/763034SW01.cfg where the max_check_attempts is defined. We can start troubleshooting this by taking a look at the config of 763034SW01.

You can do this by either going into the command line and looking at the file that way, or we can try by going into the Core Config Manager, navigating to that host and checking the values there. When you are editing the host in the Core Config Manager, the max_check_attempts for the host is under the "Check Settings" tab. Can you tell me whats marked as the max check attempts now?
