Customise default notifications

Hey guys,

Quick query - is there a way to customise the default email/SMS notification messages that are sent out? All the guides show how to do it on a per-user basis, but most of the people I would like to notify probably won't have access to login, and I'd sooner just be able to define a single notification format that everybody gets. Any ideas?
