NagiosXI 2014R1.5 and Nagvis

Post by emartine »

I installed Nagios XI 2012 and upgraded to 2014R1.5 and never checked Nagvis until now. When I click on the left hand pane where Nagvis is mentioned under the Maps sections I get a

Not Found
The requested URL /nagvis/ was not found on this server.

I read the http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... ios-XI.pdf
and noticed that it states:

"This document is outdated as all versions of Nagios XI (2012 and newer) ship with NagiVis by default and the “NagiosXI-Nagvis.sh” install script should NOT be run!"

Any idea what may be going on here?

It was a bug. See the following post for a workaround:

I downloaded the Nagvis package and installed it as was instructed. When I log into Nagios XI and click on the Nagviz link I am prompted again for credentials. Any way to get rid of this?

That is actually one of the highest search terms for NagVis, see:

http://www.nagvis.org/docs/general/faq#anchor2

I don't recall if anything else needs to be changed on the XI integration end, I will do some poking around at old threads. You can also find more information on this by using the search feature of the forums.

My thought was that this was already integrated into Nagios XI and wouldn't require a second set of auth credentials since this is a component I've added into XI as part of it. Older documentation seems to be misleading and treats it separate and its kind of hard to tell what the correct docs are to follow correction for this.

At this time, nagvis will continue to use a separate login (but same credentials). I think there were a few feature requests for this integration, so you may see it in the future?

Ah ok. It threw me off when I read the "not recommended to remove authentication" for nagvis in the docs (when you are already authenticating through XI). But yes the integration would be great.

It would be good to have Nagvis integrated. We'll go ahead and close this thread for now. Thanks.
