i add a few hostgroups to a new (additional) cfg file.
i restart nagios.
there's no sign of the new groups in the list of hostgroups.
i do a verify. it shows that the cfg w/ the new definitions are scanned.
the nagios (view) configuration page also shows the new group,
but no sign of the new group anyplace else in the gui.
permission/ownership of the new hostgroup cfg's r the same as the other groups
which r fully recognized by nagios.
i'm running nagios 3.5.1 on debian wheezy.
any hints?
tnx,
ams

Re: problem creating new hostgroups
Have you added any hosts to the hostgroups?
I don't believe they will show in the GUI until you have added hosts to them.

Re: problem creating new hostgroups
yes, there needs to be at least 1 host in the group for it to appear in the gui.
for some windows, there needs to be at least 1 service associated w/ the group too.
tnx

Re: problem creating new hostgroups
Do you still have hostgroups with hosts and services that are not showing in the GUI?
Re: problem creating new hostgroups
problem solved. it doesn't like empty hostgroups, and in some cases, serviceless host groups.
