Can you look at host templates to see if there are any 60s defined either at the host or upstream templates?

Apologies for the late reply - I've been going through a whole world of pain trying to carry out a silent install for NSClient++
I'll try to get back to this later today and let you know if I find anything, although the fact that 10, 15, 20 etc intervals work fine would suggest that the value isn't being inherited from elsewhere...

It's very possible. Read about implied inheritance very carefully.

Not really sure why, but this nagios has suddenly started behaving itself, only sending the first notification when notification_interval is set to zero.
