Regular users working with contacts and contact groups.

Post by Pres-Gas »

I have some users (created as a monitoring contact) who would like to be able to add other existing contacts to their checks, maybe even manage their own contact groups. At this moment, they can:
[*]Can (re)configure hosts and services :
[*]Can control all hosts and services :
[*]Can access advanced features:
But when they run a configuration wizard, they have no options to check boxes for other users as they can't see them (see screenshot).

What changes need to be made for these users so that they can add other users? Better yet, self manage contact groups without becoming admin?
Thanks,
Robert

It is not a good idea for users (non-admins) to be able to add other users as monitoring contacts or be able to manage users for that matter. However, in XI5 contact that are members of a contactgroup can add this contactgroup when running wizards or via "Configure->Re-configure..." menu.

Code: Select all

- Added ability for users with "Can (re)configure hosts and services" perms to add/remove contactgroups they are members of when running wizards and reconfiguring objects -SW

I would recommend upgrading to the latest version of XI.

I only wish for users to be able to add already existing monitoring contacts or groups that they are a member of. So it sounds like this is what we are looking for. I would like to keep this open to confirm the upgrade feature works "as advertised". I plan on upgrading our test instance next week for this purpose.

Thanks!
Robert

P.S. Ironic that I looked for updates the Friday before release!!

I confirm that the release provides what we are looking for with contact groups. Please consider this fixed.

Glad to see this was resolved, I will close this out now, but feel free to open another thread if you need anything in the future.
