How Nagios fits into your specific system design is going to be up to you. If you are looking for how Nagios does its checks, then you might want to look at https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ation.html, since it has a good oveview of how Nagios is structured.

Or are you looking for more of a "Here are the pieces of software that XI relies on" sort of thing?

That's only for Core though, and OP is using XI. @ranjitw can you please clarify what you require?

@tm, true, but I've never seen a requirements document for XI because of the mostly closed (ie, non-manual) install process. It installs what it needs. If one were to take the time to go through the XI install scripts, you could tease that information out though.

Hi ,

I am looking for a architecture document which includes

1) Port to be opened and how the communication happens (nrpe, nsclient++)
2) Number of servers to be built for 2k + servers
3) service accounts to be created
4) Access requirements
5) Solution architecture summary ( which includes information of high availability )
6) Backup
7) Recovery
8) Maintenance
9)Data retention
10) Functional architecture
11) Solution components

etc ....

I would basically need a sample architecture document which I can use for further modification as per my needs.

This sounds like a major consulting engagement to me. We've been doing that for customers for years and this information is way more complex than what we prepare for most of our Statements Of Work. I think you will need to write one of your own, as Nagios Enterprises is not likely to have answers to all those questions.

No. That information is both confidential and highly specific to our individual customers.
