If HOST is a parent, a HOST rename isn't updated on child

Post by perric »

Hello,

We have upgraded to Nagios XI 2014R2.7 to try to resolve an issue where a rename of a parent is not updated on the child devices. The problem still occurs. When I "Apply Configuration" after a parent rename, I get many "Error: '<parentname>' is not a valid parent for host '<hostname>'!: messages for the hosts of the parent. If i rename the parent "host" back, the errors disappear.

As a workaround, is there a way to do a find and replace from the CLI to fix?

This will be fixed in the next release of XI. It is working as expected on my test box (dev revision). The original bug (that was fixed) was: "Task Detail: Nagios XI Bug Report: CCM rename host causes error" (task_id=4453).

Thanks.

What is the estimated release date for that revision?

Hopefully some time before the conference which is September 28th of this year. Before or the week of, that depends on the devs.

Hello,

I see that v5R1.0 has been released. Will this resolve the parent Host rename issue discussed in this post?

I tested this just now, and I can confirm that it is fixed on my XI5 box. Feel free to download the latest update at https://www.nagios.com/downloads/nagios-xi/

Thanks!
