Use defined mobile carriers from nagios core contacts

Post by Iskon »

Hi,

from our nagios xi gui we have setup 2 mobile carriers (email-to-sms).

Is there a way to use this carriers with nagios core contacts.
We have few contacts (only sms contacts, created within ccm) that are not associated with nagios users.

Also we have styled / formatted sms in Admin -> Notification Management and we would like to use that template with sms contacts.

BTW, one additional question not related to one above.
With this forum user we have access (readonly) to support forum, but we cannot post / open topic there. Why is that?

Yes, this should work. See the one note though on that page you mentioned as it will need to be set on each contact -
Specify the format of the host and service alert messages you receive via mobile text message.
Note: Contacts must have the "xi_host_notification_handler" and "xi_service_notification_handler" commands defined for the selected contacts in order for these notification settings to be applied.
Are you referring to the customer forums? If you are a customer, and need access - please email [email protected]

On that page, note says This component will only update notification settings for contacts that are created by Nagios XI, or contacts created according to the XI Users and Contacts.

Our contact are created by CCM, and they don't have any relations to XI users.

Also, on that page, there is tab Deploy to Users. When opened, tab shows only options to deploy to Nagios XI users or contactgroups. There is no option for nagios core contacts.

@jolson spoke with sales - you should be good to create threads now.

That is fine if they are created in the CCM, you will need to add the xi handlers though still. See the screenshot below for an example -
xi_service_notification_handler.PNG
Once that's in place it should work, as it will follow the XI handlers for sending notifications.

I've tried this.

I've created contact from CCM, and set xi_host_notification_handler as notification command for host.

Contact has only one address but it doesn't work. We are not receiving email (when email i set) or sms (when pager is set) notifications, when we try to send custom notification from host.

If we add nagios user to that host, we are receiving notifications (sms or mail).

If we change notification command to notify-host-by-email for contact, sms / mails are coming in but we cannot use template created in nagos xi notification management page.

I've attached screenshots of configuration.
