Mass acknowledge treats "Pending" services as "Unhandled"

Post by eclypse »

I noticed since a recent upgrade to Nagios XI 5.2.5, if I view the "Mass Acknowledge" component, any services which are in the "Pending" state show up in the list as they are considered "unhandled". Specifically, these all belong to multiple "SNMP Traps" services for which they have not yet received a trap, therefore that state is "Pending/No check results for service yet..." instead of OK/Warning/Critical.

Aside from manually submitting an "OK" passive check to these services, is there a way to clear these?

Is treating "Pending" services as "Unhandled" a bug or a feature? I don't recall ever seeing this behavior before.

Thanks,
Mike

You could set up freshness to your passive checks. Please review our documentation on the topic (the "Extending Passive Checks With Freshness Checks" section) here:

That doesn't really answer my question though. Is the behavior of treating pending checks as "unhandled" intended, or is it a bug? At first glance, I'm not sure freshness checks make sense with regards to SNMP traps that only are sent when there is a problem, but I admit I need to dig more into freshness checks as I don't have any experience with them.

It appears to be a bug with the Mass Acknowledge component. I already filed an internal bug report (TASK ID 8155). Thank you!
