email Notification Messages - add description

Hi,

This is probablay an easy answer.

But I can't find a document to show me how to do it.

In the email Notification Messages - How do I add description field into the the email alert?

Have tried

Description: %description%

but this does not work.

I have tired the following and it not doing what I want it to do.

%hostalias% gives me the host name of the item.

But I want to add the description info all my host into the email Notification Messages. please see attached screen shoot.
How can I do this? There don't seems to be a Variable for it?

Any ideas?

It's *supposed* to be the %hostalias% variable as you have it. Just to verify, the notification messages are per-user. Has this been updated for the user you're attempting to configure? If so, can you post the full email notification message that you have so far?

Here is the settings i have in nagios:

Sun Branding Solutions

Notification Type: %type%
Host: %hostname%
Description: %hostalias%
State: %hoststate%
Address: %hostaddress%
Info: %hostoutput%
Date/Time: %datetime%

Login to the Nagios URL: %xiserverurl% to acknowledge or investigate further.

But %hostalias% just gives me the host name of the item and not the Description of the item.

Also I notice that %hostname% does not work, if this helps

Still haven't quite figured out why that part isn't working...we'll have to test on our end and see what we can figure out.

That one should be %host% : )

Can you post your contact config for this particular contact? You can access this by going to the Core Config Manager->Contacts, and then clicking the "Download" button. Go ahead and remove real email addresses for privacy.
