check_bpi data validity period

Post by sgiworks »

Hello Team,

With your assistance we have configured BPI host & service groups, ref: https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewto ... 16&t=38580

Could you please confirm what is the validity of the data stored in BPI host & service groups? because we are generating monthly reports using the BPI service groups. This need to be validated, because we do not want to report inconsistent report data.

Will attached a config document and sample report for your reference if needed.

Regards,
Swapnil

BPI groups only report an aggregate of other service checks. The validity is updated every 90 seconds, by default. If the underlying service checks are not updated, then the BPI group will not be updated either.

You can't report on the data from Home > BPI unless you add it as a service with Configure > Configuration Wizards > BPI Wizard, then you can report on it like any other service.

Let us know if that works for you.

That doesn't answer my question.

How can I upload a secure config document, which will explain what configuration we have.

After you have created a BPI service check, it will store it as long as it stores any other service check.

Just to add to what eloyd said, you can tweak how long nagios will keep the data by going to Admin->Performance Settings->Databases, and modifying any of the values you need to change. Hope this helps.

Can you have a quick call to verify our configuration? Before I promote it to production.

If you have a phone support contract you can call our support line during business hours, otherwise we will need to continue here or in an email ticket.

We do have a phone support, however I would like to setup a remote support session so that I can share my screen and show the configuration.
