nrpe installation error (perhaps wrong path)

Post by arpanet3 »

Hello Hardworking Nagios Support team,

I've a problem with the nrpe installation on Ubuntu 16.04. However before I describe it.
Here are some technical background info:
I haven't so much experiense with the Nagios monitoring (5 month).
I use a Computer with Ubuntu 16.04 as Localhost monitoring some Windows machines... I Installed Nagios 4.1.1 (with LAMP-Stack), libssl-dev & openssl package & the Nagios Plugins 2.1.1.
I want to monitor the systemlog of the windows machines. So I tried to install the nrpe-plugin (used your PDF-file for installation)
xinetd has been installed and NRPE 3.0.1 downloaded and extract. I started the configure command and then make all. And Ubuntu says "no rule to create all" end.
So I looked in the configure command:

I think Ubuntu awaits it in another path, but I am not sure. Can I give him the SSL-Include-Path parameter???
If I can give him this parameters, how do I do that???
I installed Nagios with all the Plugins in the standard download directory.

I'm sorry, if someone have had the same problem in this forum. I found nrpe problems, but not mine.
I'm just a rookie, so it is a beginner question.

You need to install libssl-dev or disable ssl from the configure script.
