No, did you try export PATH=/sbin:$PATH as suggested? This is for sure one of the problems we have seen with GNOME.

You can also remove gnome with yum remove gnome-desktop. I'm on CentOS, but that looks pretty safe based on the dependencies.

Ok I took shotgun approach. Removed and tried to reinstall. Install looks like it was successful but getting 404 error. Also, did not create /usr/local/nagios directory so had to try twice. How do i do a complete removal again??

To totally uninstall XI take a look a this doc:

Read this prior to re-installing. The OS you're installing it on must be clean/minimal, meaning no Gnome or anything else installed on it:

So completely removing/re-installing Nagios resolved the issue. Everything appears to be functioning as expected now. Thank you. You can close this thread.
