PDF not working in emailed reports

Post by ksafa »

PDFs are generating the following error when being sent via emailed reports:

"Adobe Reader could not open 'page (002).pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damanged."

-Running version 5.2.9
-Program URL: http://<ip>/nagiosxi
-SSL set to false in config.inc.php
-When generating PDF on site it downloads and opens fine.

Thanks

Does this occur for all recipients?
If a select few, what OS are their workstations, see this:
https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-4601

What type of report is it, so we can attempt to reproduce here?
Was this working fine and suddenly started happening or is this a new configuration that never worked?

yes for all recipients.
We are on Windows 7.
This is a new install of 5.2.9 on RHEL6.
We are attempting to schedule a report containing a graph generated using graph explorer.

When attempting to email Availability Summary Report it works fine. Issue appears to be with scheduling page. Hope that helps clarify.

This was a bug fixed in 5.3.0: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... NGES-5.TXT
Fixed newly scheduled pages sending corrupt .pdf files [TPS#8874] -JO
If it can wait, 5.4.2 should be out next week. Is this an offline install? If so, I'd suggested either sticking with 5.3.3 or waiting for the 5.4.2 offline, which should be 2-3 weeks after the regular 5.4.2 release.

yes this is an offline install. Will we lost certain tweaks, customizations we made to some of the command files during the upgrade? As well as other command files we created ourselves? Trying to determine impact of this upgrade since we just went through a fresh install.

Depending what files you've modified, it's possible, yes. As we upgrade, we cannot account for custom changes that have been made. Depending what you've done, we may be able to integrate it in to the XI system. Would you like to share it for us to bring up to the developers?

Is there any way to just patch the PDF issue? Can we just update the files the impact the PDF corruption issue? Without having to do a complete upgrade?

Thanks.

Nope - the upgrades are required for patching. We do not publish a per-bug patch at all currently.
