@SteveBeauchemin We haven't used templates to a large degree before. With this current need, we're rethinking that approach.
The problem is that we have so many hosts and services already in place. Right now we're wanting to add those templates to large batches of hosts/services. The current Bulk Update feature doesn't allow you to append, only overwrite all templates for a given host/service.
Just FYI, we're using Evanios Event Management module instead of native SN-EM. They have their own event handlers Nagios and pieces that route those events through a mid-server and into SNOW. The guys at Levi Strauss have a large Xi implementation and they put me in touch with them last year at Knowledge16.

I'm happy to report that the FR has passed initial dev inspection, although there is still no timeline yet. It's really difficult to say at this point as 5.5 is likely months away.
NEW TASK ID 11775 created - Nagios XI Feature Request: Add free variables via the Bulk Mod Tool
Re: Adding a single free variable? In bulk?
Oy. I'm learning that I'm not good with databases.
We have over 5k in tbl_variabledefinition.
Given that we have about 10 different values that I want to set for _SNGROUP across hundreds of hosts and thousands of services...
Fingers crossed my FR makes the cut soon.

Although I hope it's sooner and there's no guarantee it will be out by then, I've been telling people waiting on 5.5 to check back in December if they aren't notified about an update before then.
