new to Linux , new to Nagios , need solid advice

Post by zaji_nms »

Dear Expert

I am going to recommend NagiosXI for my friend. He is very new to Linux world and of course Apache, Nagios etc....

There is many if we googling, but do you have any authenticate document how to install Linux on VMware and Nagios. What are recommendation from you. What precaution has to do on Linux/Nagios (like iptables , Apache Allow List).

Any PDF book with full detail. Any one lengthy video (with maximum detail) on Youtube? (so he will go parallelly both PDF and Video)

The XI installer takes care of all of this. Now, once you move past the base install there may be other things that need to be opened up, but ports and apache configs are generally handled in individual documents.

Well, it's not one single PDF, but links to multiple PDFs. We do have two manuals though:
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ides/user/
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... nistrator/

Much like the manual, our videos are often broken into smaller, segments, but here they are: https://www.youtube.com/user/nagiosvide ... 50&sort=dd

You can have your friend attend a webinar (https://www.nagios.com/events/webinars/#nagios-xi) and set up a quickstart (https://www.nagios.com/services/quickstart/nagios-xi/), if they like.

Also, you can have your friend post in the general support section here with specific questions if they like.
