NRPE++ checkiis - no handler for command: checkiis

Post by Nagios_Admin_M »

Hi,

I added to the nsclient.ini line as follow:
scripts\checkiss.vbs -s https://localhost -t 401,403,404

and copied file into:
NSClient++\scripts\checkiis.vbs

After I executed the command:
/usr/lib64/nagios/plugins/check_nrpe -H xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -c checkiis

I get:
No handler for command: checkiss

Do you know why this error is occurring ?

Post by tgriep »

The syntax for the command in the nsclient.ini file is not defined correctly and some of the command line options are missing as well.

Open up the nsclient.ini file and under this section

Code: Select all

[/settings/external scripts/wrapped scripts]
Create your command like the example below.

Code: Select all

checkiis=cscript.exe scripts\\checkiis.vbs -s https://localhost/ -t 401,403,404
Save the file and restart the NSClient++ service.

Test it and if you are still having errors, take a look at the nsclient.log file on the windows server for the error and see if you can resolve the issue.

Can you post your full nsclient.ini file so we can check the settings in it?

This is a sample of my ini file:

; alias_cpu_ex - Alias for alias_cpu_ex. To configure this item add a section called: /settings/external scripts/alias/alias_cpu_ex
alias_cpu_ex = checkCPU warn=$ARG1$ crit=$ARG2$ time=5m time=1m time=30s

after modification it looks like this:

;alias_cpu_ex - Alias for alias_cpu_ex. To configure this item add a section called: /settings/external scripts/alias/alias_cpu_ex
[/settings/external scripts/alias/alias_cpu_ex]
alias_cpu_ex = checkCPU warn=$ARG1$ crit=$ARG2$ time=5m time=1m time=30s

Both of the configuration sets doesn't work after restart of the client.

To create a command in the nsclient.ini file for checkiis, you would need to add the following command definition.

Code: Select all

checkiis=cscript.exe scripts\\checkiis.vbs -s https://localhost/ -t 401,403,404
You should not have to edit any of the alias sections in the file, you need to add the new command.

Please attach the full nsclient.ini file as well as the nsclient.log file from your Windows system to this post.
Without them, I cannot check the commands to see if the syntax it correct.

Can you provide any details on what you are trying to check on the server?

Thanks for posting the nsclient.ini file.
I did a lot of changes to the file so what I am going to do is attach it to this post.
You would download it and replace your existing copy and restart the NSClient++ service.
Test it and see if the changes worked for you.
