Monitoring big infraestructure.

Post by pmpinto »

First of all, hi for all,

I have a big challenge, monitoring a big network with less 4000 network devices, the monitoring only include host up or down, only that. I need to know what architecture you recommend me or if i need multiple host or if is better check_ping o check_icmp, if some butty have experience with a big deployment like that.

Thank for all yours helps.

If all you need to do is see if 4000 devices are up or down, that should not be a problem. Here is our document on the hardware requirements: https://support.nagios.com/kb/article.p ... ategory=83 . Even though it's for XI and 3 years old, it still largely applies.

If you don't already have Core installed, here are instructions for that: https://support.nagios.com/kb/article.php?id=96

Without knowing what those network devices are, it's hard to say a ton more. I suspect you'll find our manuals useful: https://library.nagios.com/library/prod ... e/manuals/
