Bandwidth monitors stopped collecting

Post by GldRush98 »

Everything else seems to be working fine, but our bandwidth monitors (using the Network Switch/Router wizard) have all stopped collected. They all stopped on the same day, July 7th. So I'm thinking some process died or something else went wrong that day. I've never seen this happen before. Any ideas? Thanks in advance :)

Did you by chance rename the host without using the "bulk rename tool"? I've seen similar issues in the past. If you just rename the host I believe MRTG loses its mapping.

No, no renames were done. This is universal on the system for all Bandwidth monitors across all hosts. We have over 1800 monitors that are now dead.

Have you tried to troubleshoot the issue by following all of the steps, outlined in our "Nagios XI - Debugging Bandwidth Performance Graphs" KB article? This is a good place to start.

Thanks for the link to that document. I didn't know that existed, otherwise I would have tried that first. My bad

It looks like there was some weird duplicate config error that was discovered while running the LANG=C LC_ALL=C /usr/bin/mrtg /etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg command. I removed the config file it was complaining about and everything started working. I'm getting performance data coming in once again.
