Missing disk status in the agentless monitroing of VMs

Post by Ivajlo911 »

Hi,
we have a problem wit setting up a disk status check and monitoring when using your plugin for VMWare. The installation is agent-less and is gathering data from vCenter. Can you advise whether there is a standard way to monitor virtual machine status of disk space with your plugins when NOT using an agent.

Thank you.

Details of our implementation:
CentOS Linux release 7.3.1611 64 bit
Manual Install of Nagios XI
No special configurations on our system, ie; is Gnome installed
We are not using a proxy
We are using Nagios XI 5.4.7.

Are you asking to check the guest as the OS level to see how much space is used for a C: drive on a windows system or a root partition for a Unix system running as guests in your VMWare infrastructure?
For Windows systems, you can use WMI to do that. Take a look at these links for details on doing that.

Linux is a little more difficult for doing agent less monitoring, easiest it to install SNMP on the systems and monitor it that way.

You may want to search the Exchange site for something that could work for you.

Hi,
WMI does not work for us as we need a solution without accessing the OS, only the vCenter. And if we are not mistaken WMI includes access to OS.

Hi,
we know this document.
We started with it - it just does not do the job described.
Thank you for trying to help.
