Host Config File Restriction
Host Config File Restriction
We currently have a hostgroup that contains our core group of servers being managed by Contact Group A, but we would like to add Contact Group B to the hostgroup and give Contact Group B the ability to setup their own monitors and alerts for that hostgroup. Is there a way to setup Contact Group B to have their own alerts and monitors without affecting Contact Group A’s original settings?

@tbower, did you want to work on this through the ticket or this thread?

@dwhitfield preferably ticket, but I was asking in the general sense the community as well, to see if anyone has devised a way to support our plan.

I'm not sure the subject is the best to get community involvement. I'd change it to "Is there a way to setup Contact Group B to have their own alerts and monitors without affecting Contact Group A’s original settings?"
Generally, we try to keep things in either a ticket or on the forums, but I do understand the desire for community input.

Re: Host Config File Restriction
is exactly what we are trying to perform. If preferred, we can close this out and delete it. We already have a ticket open regarding this subject. Just from my understanding of Nagios, so far there isn't an easy way to perform this capability without creating duplicate host files for a monitored item."Is there a way to setup Contact Group B to have their own alerts and monitors without affecting Contact Group A’s original settings?"

If you already have a ticket open on the topic I am going to lock this thread to prevent duplication of work by different staff memberstbower wrote:If preferred, we can close this out and delete it. We already have a ticket open regarding this subject.
