Is it possible to filter SNMP traps?

Post by Bigforky »

I'm evaluating Nagios XI and would like to use SNMP traps on a series of switches that comprise our fiber ring to indicate when/if a fiber is cut.

Our switches aren't granular enough to let us control which ports send a SNMP trap when it has a changed state (up/down), so we receive a trap alert each time a tech plugs into a switch or when a server reboots etc.

Is there a way in Nagios to filter the SNMP trap data so it alerts only when it meets criteria (like when one specific port changes state)?

Thanks!

I think NSTI might be the tool to fill the job
