Honestly, I haven't used the Generic Network Device wizard yet. I've always used the Router/Switch one for the appropriate devices.

Glad it is working for you.
Normally, when you delete a network device configuration from XI, it leaves the MRTG config file and doesn't delete it so it should of sent the emails if a device was shut off from before.
