Notifications not being sent out

Hello,

I had an issue over the weekend where one of our devices had gone down for 3 hours but we were not notified about it. We do not have the notifications muted and we do have the host and services enabled to be sent to the administrators. This issue does not happen often, but when it does, we are left to scramble to get the device back up ASAP.

The issue is not limited to one host or device, it has happened to different hosts and services.

Is it possible that my nagios XI has a glitch or quirk that causes this?

Can you tell us a bit more details on the service that went down and the check that should have alerted you? Was it a simple host-alive-check that should have alerted you? How often should it run? Do you see anything logged in /usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log regarding this check/host?
