Synology On Nagios Core

Was wondering if someone could please help I am trying to use synology RS815T on nagios core. Could you please walk me through step by step to monitor this with nagios core. Any help is really appreciated it.

Hi, @skypete.

We do have a plugin on the exchange that should work for you:

It uses SNMP to check a Synology NAS device.
- System status (Power, Fans)
- Disks status
- RAID (Volume) status
- DSM update status
- Temperatures
- Storage percentage of use
- UPS informations
Because SNMP is one of the prerequisites to run this plugin you'll need to enable it on your device first. Please refer to the official manufacturers manual for the instructions on how to do that. Once you enable it try running a few test commands as shown in the description.
As of May 25th, 2018, all communications with Nagios Enterprises and its employees are covered under our new Privacy Policy.

Hi thanks for the reply on this will the metrics show from the nagios core part? Can you explain in detail on how to get this running. There is no instructions on how to get this working thanks again.

First you would need to enable SNMP here

Then find a plugin that does what you want, there are some Synology plugins here

So quick question how would i enable any of the plugin to communicate with the synology? would i need to create a service command and a host definition?

Yes, and then a service definition for each different check
