Delay on receiving email alerts

Post by nagiosfan »

I just did a test as I shutdown the server today and it took about few minutes to receive alert on email after critical status dictates server is down on Nagios. The problem of this is if server is restarted I will not receive any email alert from Nagios since the server is back up so quick. I did set sending notification immediately on notification setting but there are still some delays to receive those notifications on email. How can I solve this problem?

When setting up checks it asks how many time you want to retry before generating alert and the default is 5 checks 1 minute apart

That would be 5 minutes before generating an alert

you can change this to 1 to generate the alert immediately

Configure -> CCM -> Hosts/Services -> Edit -> Check Settings Tab
Max check attempts = 1

It seems like I have to go each host and change the max attempt individually. Is it a way I can do one time for all hosts?

Configure -> CCM -> Tools -> Bulk Modifications Tool
Change a single configuration option

This will let you select as many as you like to do at once
