Monitoring hardware
Monitoring hardware
I am setting up monitoring for a heterogeneous collection of datacenter compute server hardware (fan, temp, etc.) and switch/routers. There may or may not be an OS or hypervisor installed on the compute servers, so I can only communicate with the hardware from the monitoring server using iLO, iDRAC, or other protocol supported by the hardware. I am looking for examples and guidance. I am limited to Nagios Core, with or without add-ons/plug-ins (i.e. check_MK).

Re: Monitoring hardware
I'll leave the thread open in case others want to add on, but you basically answered your own question, you have to find plugins that work with the specific hardware you are choosing.
Here is the Nagios Exchange where a log of plugins exist

Re: Monitoring hardware
certainly Dell's support for Nagios is pretty extensive so you will have no issue monitoring the idrac for any server or storage solution from dell
