Distribution list emails to notify users

Good morning,
I wanted to ask a question about Nagios and the ability to send out alerts to a DL. For instance I have individual users that we have imported via AD and those people are able to receive individual alerts but when I manually create a contact for a DL. Nagios shows that it is sending the note but none of the users are reeving the alerts.

What do the DL contact's email settings look like? Is the email address for the DL group a normal email address? From XI's perspective it shouldn't care if the email belongs to a DL or individual. Are you using the test email button or how are you determining that that DL contact is sending mail?

If the DL contact is a XI account, there are a few places that need to be enabled to send notification emails. Perhaps one of them was missed. Double check the DL contact's emails settings following https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ios-XI.pdf.

I created a contact for the distribution list. I have went back and created a user this time. Perhaps that is the difference?

It could have been, if you had specified one of the XI host/service notification handlers but only had a contact it would not have been able to send the message
