Nagios Core 4.4.1 status.cgi is consuming more cpu and memor

Post by vusaravi »

Hi

Since last 1 week, our Nagios server became dead slow and causing 100% CPU and 100% Memory usage.

Below are the environment details:

Nagios core 4.4.1
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.4 (Maipo)
SELinux status: disabled
Memory: 6 GB
CPU: 2 core

Objects in Nagios:
Checked 445 services.
Checked 48 hosts.
Checked 4 host groups.
Checked 0 service groups.
Checked 2 contacts.
Checked 2 contact groups.
Checked 37 commands.
Checked 3 time periods.
Checked 0 host escalations.
Checked 0 service escalations.

Upon verifying the server, we found that status.cgi & extinfo.cgi both are consuming full resources, As a result, Nagios is unable to perform checks and send us the notifications.

Causing issue for Production server monitoring.

Kindly help us in resolving the issue.

One more observation is that status.dat is of size 1.9 G.

When compared in other network, it is in KB's only.

Can we know why it is growing like this, any way to resolve the issue?

There was a know issue in 4.4.1 that would cause this, I would highly recommend upgrading to 4.4.3
