I EVENTUALLY managed to get an upgrade done. There was a load of nonsense with perl/VMWareSDK/permissions/other nonsense.

Yesterday I have disabled the app restart which we were doing every four hours on one of my prod nodes, and it looks like we are sucking diesel.
