I am currently looking at converting our current SNMPTT setup to the new NXTI apporach
I have uploaded the MIBs but, by default the "Enable Passive Service Setup" is not checked...
Do I have to manually open each and every trap and tick this box? surely there is a way of bulk modifying this?
I don't understand what "Active" means either - what does an active trap with no Enabled Passive Service Setup do? I don't get how it is active, as it wont alert anywhere? Does it just mean active as in it wont show up as an unknown trap?
Is it possible to set severity/Service Description in bulk as well?
NXTI bulk modification
Re: NXTI bulk modification
What version of XI are you running on the server?
In newer versions of XI, you can go to the Admin > Manage MIBs menu and click on the Process All Traps button and that will add them all to the NXTI configuration file.
That should enable the passive service for the current entries.
The Active section just logs the received TRAP in the Received Trap menu, that is all that is done.
The Passive part of the config sends the Trap to the Passive Check defined in the GUI so it can receive the traps and generate alerts on them.

Sorry, this is not available. Is it possible to set severity/Service Description in bulk as well?

Re: NXTI bulk modification
I'm running 5.5.9
All of the traps were imported using the Manage MIBs - but none of them got the service setup

Re: NXTI bulk modification
You will have to upgrade XI to the newest version so you can use the Process All Traps button in the GUI to re-add all of the Traps to the server.
That version has issues importing MIB files to the system and depending on the issue, it will not import the MIB to the system.
