Auto discovery issues

Post by sanket »

I've installed Nagios XI 2011R3.2 evaluation version and trying to use the auto discovery to discover 100 odd Cisco network devices.
- Is auto discovery supported in this eval version or do I need to install any additional components?
- I've provided the IP address and subnet range and ran the discovery..It keeps running but none of the devices show up (job is still running). All the IP addressed in this range are reachable.
- How long does it take for this job to complete? I read forums and someone pointed out that it can take up to 24 hours?
- Someone suggested to refresh the job list and tried that too, but devices found shows N/A.
- I tried to add one device manually through "Add SNMP device" which was successful.

Any idea?
Thanks,
Sanket

How large of a netblock did you specify?

I will say the the auto-discovery on large netblocks can take a long, long time...

that said, once it completes it should work just fine in your evaluation. If you have the VM, you shouldn't need to add anything.
