Hello,
What is the purpose of the Program URL field? How does it impact the functionality of Nagios XI if changed to an alternate URL? For example, if a vanity URL were place in that field rather than the hostname URL, what would be the impact?

Re: Program URL field
Hi @dbcummings,
Good question. That sets the desired URL address that for accessing your server- either by domain name or IP address. For example, setting this to the wrong value can impact reports as it is not directing to the correct location for the page/script to run the report.
I hope that helps. Let me know if you need clarification on anything.

Re: Program URL field
Benjamin,
Thank you. I am assuming that "wrong" would mean a URL that does not point to the Nagios XI server. If we have a vanity URL configured in our DNS, then the setting "should" work, correct? I have done this in a test environment and I can run reports. Would you suggest any test(s) that I could run to confirm things are working as expected?

Re: Program URL field
Hello @dbcummings,
That's right. The setting tells Nagios XI what to use for its URL generation and this information is passed to some scripts internally.
As long as it can resolve to the correct IP address it should work. I would recommend testing the reports, API commands and some of the backend commands ( in the Advanced Tab if the host or service details).
