We are monitoring a pair of firewalls using SNMP. The service check I created uses check_snmp and returns the text string of either "active" or "passive" to Nagios. Because the firewalls are in a high-availability cluster, either of these states is acceptable as one of the firewalls will always be active and one will be passive. We need to monitor when there is a change of state (from active to passive, or from passive to active) and send an alert when that occurs. Please advice.
Nagios XI v5.6.3 installed on CentOS 7 64bit.
