Nagios SNMPWalk/Get Query

Post by veeravamsi »

Hi Team,

We have some old devices which has Whitelisting of IPAddresses for both SNMP Polling ( Port 161 ? ) && Traps ( Port 162 ). So I was thinking if we can Create a VIP/Pool on F5 Load Balancer for Port 161 .

1. I couldnt find UDP port 161 as open not sure if this only Open when there is SNMP request / poll ? Otherwise do you know where i can see which Port is being used for SNMP Query/Polling .

2. Have you come across any environments who has created F5 VIP for Port 161 or SNMP polling ?

1. The default port for queries is 161 UDP unless you changed it. The default port for traps is 162 UDP.
- If they are currently being monitored you would need to edit one of the services and see if it uses a different port

2. I haven't, we don't use F5's here though so we don't have any knowledge of setting them up, this would likely be something you want to talk to F5 support about.
