add large number of checks

Post by rzietlow »

Hello suppport,

we have a number of SSL cert checks that we want to monitor. They need to be put in after the fact, we already have a large number of servers and established checks. Other than going in one by one in a configuration monitor and adding a check, is there a way to mass add them?

HI @rzietlow,

A good question and we've got a couple of options to achieve this in Nagios XI. One is to use the Bulk Modifications tool ( you'll need the Enterprise Edition for this feature), once you've set up an SSL cert check, go to Configure > CCM > Bulk Modifications Tool and select the Add Service option to mass assign the service to multiple hosts.

Secondly, you can put all of those hosts into a hostgroup, then assigned the service to the hostgroup, and they will inherit the service check. Check the ProTip video below on how to do this.

Master assigning service checks by hostgroup - Pro Tip

Hope that helps, and let me know if you have any questions.
