Hello,
We updated one of our instances to 5.7.4 about a month ago and need to roll back to a previous version due to issues we are having with API calls. I found an article about uninstalling the current version, installing a previous version and then restoring a backup. The uninstall portion worked just fine but I am getting errors when trying to install a previous version now. I am assuming this may be due to the fact that we used the vhd install option. If so what other option would we have for rolling back? I am a little confused as to how the uninstall / install / restore works as I thought the backup had to be from the same version that you are restoring to.
Downgrade procedure for vhd
Re: Downgrade procedure for vhd
There isn't a downgrade procedure at this time.
You should only backup up and restore the the same exact XI version, so you'll need to install whatever versions of XI the backup file contains otherwise you will likely have issues.
Send us the full output of the install.log or /tmp/xi-install.log (whichever method you used to install) so we can see what is occurring.
One thing to note is that if your system is running EL6 the vendor of the OS removed the repositories because it's end of life now (which means the repos are gone and not accessible) so you will need to migrate to EL7 or above if that's the case so it can install the packages needed.
