Upgrade Virtual Appliance
We have a NagiosXI instance running as a virtual appliance. (OVA) It's been working great for quite a while. However, the underlying OS is CentOS6, which has reached End of Life. So how do we get this updated to use CentOS7? Is there an OVA upgrade path? Do we need to perform a migration of our NagiosXI config to a newer instance? Any documentation on the best method to do this?
Re: Upgrade Virtual Appliance
What version of Nagios XI are you running?
The simplest solution is probably to deploy the appropriate OVA file from our VMWare image download page, then export the configuration from the old machine, and import them into the new one.

- Step 1: Exporting the Configuration Database
- Step 2: Using the Config Import Prep Tool (Note: You might be able to get away with skipping this step if you're going from an XI version with the same major and minor version number, e.g. 5.8.0 -> 5.8.1, or 5.7.3 -> 5.7.5.)
- Step 3: Importing Core Configuration Files Into Nagios XI
