Nagios version of a Solarwinds IPAM

Hey Folks!

I am a net new customer and just learning the ropes of Nagios, so any help would be apprecitated.

We used to be a Solarwinds shop, with the recent issues we have shut it down. One of the features we always used was the IPAM from Solarwinds. I am struggling to find information or how I would go about setting up the same for my team to be able to edit, add or delete entries like we did in IPAM.

I looked at the network discovery, I have searched the Nahgios Exchange and was not having a lot of luck there. Has anyone setup up something like the IPAM in their environment? Or know where I can go to get some information on it?

Hi,

My understanding is that Solarwinds IPAM is used to actually manage and track
your network assets, doing things like keeping track of assigned IPs, DHCP and
DNS settings in a database, and allowing changes to be made and tracked.

Nagios xi is a monitoring and alerting tool. It does have an api that could be leveraged to
build something like the Solarwinds IPAM but it's not something available as stock.

As someone who considered the SolarWinds IPAM module, I can understand the need to replace it.

Nagios is primarily a monitoring platform. So no IPAM solution like SolarWinds has. If you were using SolarWinds IPAM to update your DHCP and DNS servers, you likely will need to pay for another solution.

However, if you just need IPAM, you might consider Netbox:

You can setup auto-discovery jobs what will use nmap to scan subnets/ranges/IPs for new hosts but there isn't currently any IP/DNS/DHCP management functionality built into XI at this time:
