Hi Guys,
I don't think this is possible but one of our Network Engineers has asked me a question and I thought I ask here just to cover all bases.
Would it be possible to trigger an alert in Nagios if a certain percentage to hosts go down in a particular hostgroup?
For example, if a single site goes offline we are not that bothered and it is dealt with by a Field Engineer when they visit. However, last week our ISP messed up a routing table and we lost comms to around 460 of our remote sites and Nagios went nuts! In this event it is major issue that would fall to our 3rd line Network Engineers to fix 24/7, so they could really benefit from some kind of mass outage alert!
Thanks in advance!
Host Group Alert
Re: Host Group Alert
Hello @danniiffxi
Thanks for reaching out, understand that you are looking for a Host Group alerting option.
We would suggest taking a look at the BPI component found on the Nagios XI web console > Home > BPI. You'll be able to receive alerts based on the percentage of how many hosts in a host group are down.
Here is the support article that outlines the details on BPI:
