Upgrade underlying OS and migrating data

Post by osk.dthompson »

We're in the process of upgrading the OS from RHEL 6 to RHEL 7. Our current version of NagiosXI is 5.7.5 and we want to install 5.7.5 on our new RHEL7 server via RPM, but I've noticed the only RPM in the repo is 5.8. Is there a way we can get 5.7.5 via RPM? We're not sure how safe it would be to migrate our data from 5.7.5 to 5.8. Hence we want to install 5.7.5, migrate the data, then upgrade.
Thanks,

Hi,

You are "spot on" in migrating to a new OS but keeping the version of Nagios XI the
same.

You can find earlier releases in https://www.nagios.com/downloads/nagios ... -releases/

Good luck!

So we have install via tar file? How will that work when we try to upgrade via the RPM?

Hi,

Yes, install 5.7.5 from the tarball on your RHEL 7 server. Then once you validate that every thing
is working you can upgrade Nagios XI.

There are a few ways to perform the upgrade. Take a look at these so you can
see what is available to you:

Let me know of any questions that occur to you.

Thanks!
