not possible to ack problem or schedule downtime after upgrade

Post by elinagios »

Hello

i upgraded nagios xi from 5.9.2 to 5.11.2. After the upgrade i can't schedule downtime or ack problems anymore. The Author box is greyed out and empty. As that is also a required field, i can not activate either options.

From the guide:
The author is the account that acknowledge the problem. The author will be displayed as the alias associated with the contact in the Core Config Manager and will be the name displayed in the acknowledgements and comments.

So far we have been using our own contacts and contact commands custom made for us. Now, i tried importing my account again (AD user) and this time i opted to create as monitoring contacts, logged out/in. But even then the author box remains inactive. Any ideas?

Thank you!

elinagios,

I had a user just complain to me about the same issue. We use mailing lists for contacts, so users are not listed as contacts. If I add the user as a contact, using the same exact name and alias, the user is now able to schedule downtime (and presumably able to acknowledge problems as well).

Hope this helps to solve your problem.

Ok, so i played around with it and found my issue. Thank you for hints shoreypu.
1) Yes, you need same named contact as your login.
2) If you dont fill the alias, then it wount work. Devs, can you make the alias mandatory field in contacts if without it the ack and scheduled downtime wount work anyways.

elinagios, I'm glad you were able to get your issue fixed as well. I'd like to know why having a user contact is not a requirement, or is it a bug?
