NRPE on RHEL 9.X

Post by jk111 »

Hello,

I just tried installing the NRPE v4.0.2 on an RHEL 9.2 system. I ran into a snag with xinitd.
The installer errors out with:
No match for argument: xinetd
Error: Unable to find a match: xinetd.

From Red Hat:
The xinetd package is not available in RHEL and the functionality is now provided by systemd.

Is there a way to get NRPE installed on RHEL 9?

Hi @jk111, thanks for reaching out.

A couple of people have mentioned issues with installing NRPE via the "XI Linux Agent" installer on EL 9. The workaround I would recommend for right now is to build NRPE from source, and use systemd to manage the NRPE service.
