Why is Nagios using so much CPU or memory, and how can I fix it?

Hi @dianereese,
We're going to need a lot more information to even begin to assist.
How much CPU and memory is your installation using? Are you unable to monitor your environment because your Nagios server is overburdened? How many things are you monitoring? Active or passive checks? Check interval for active checks? Are you running anything else besides Nagios on your Nagios server?
