Nagios Alerts and Notifications

Hi,

I'm looking for a way of having an easy to use setup of alerts and notifications through Nagios.

I'm looking to see if we can have a Nagios user/contact receive email alerts during office hours and SMS texts out with office hours. Is this even possible?

Also I'm looking to have some structure where we can have a host and service group associated with specifically qualified engineers. Therefore all we would need to do is "drop" a new engineer into the relevant contact group associated with hosts and services and that engineer would receive the necessary alerting without too much setup required. Is this even possible?

You can do all of this but you'll need to set it up. For example the night and day notifications will need two notification definitions, which can be done in a couple minutes.
Go into notification settings and do it.

There is a way to do this in Nagios XI. Similar to what kg2857 said you will need to configure different notification settings. There may be a few things you will need to configure if you have not yet set up any notifications on your system. Below I will provide some useful documents that will be able to walk you through setting up notifications for email and SMS. Other than that you will just need to configure the times of when these notifications can go off, and who they will be sent to.
