Hello,
We have encountered a issue last year while installing 2024R2 version.
===================
===================
INSTALLATION ERROR!
Installation step failed - exiting.
Check for error messages in the install log (install.log).
If you require assistance in resolving the issue, please include install.log
in your communications with Nagios Enterprises technical support.
The step that failed was: 'backend'

Our CSM manager mentioned as below
""After checking in with one of our experts internally as well as our development team, it looks like this issue comes from Logstash themselves.
This is going to be fixed in the next releases.""
===================
At that point we decided to move from NLS 2.1 to NLS 2024R1.3.1 and it went fine. Since 22024R1.3.1 is EOL, we are planning to upgrade to 2026R1.4.1 which is latest and greatest. Can you please share relevant information to plan this upgrade accordingly?
The plan we have so far is to perform a out of place upgrade due to Elastic Search --> Open Search change.
1. Spin up 4 RHEL10 servers.
2. Install the software NLS 2026R1.4.1
3. Add the cluster members accordingly and make it ready to receive inputs.
4. Then before we enable the live stream of logs, we plan to migrate what's existing in current setup and move it to new setup. for that we are following the document https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... r-2026.pdf
i. However, in the above document, in page -1 we are told that minimum version should be 2024R1.3.7 and ours is 2024R1.3.1
ii. The same document mentions the version should be greater than 2024R1.0.2 which is satisfied in our case to migrate data fully.
Question:
Which one is true? should we attempt a installation followed by migration since we have a version > 2024R1.0.2 or
perform a in-place upgrade from 2024R1.3.1 TO 2024R1.3.7 first? if true, can you share the steps to do so without having a down time or the best way we can do it?
Please advise which will be our best course of action given the situation we are in to complete the upgrade seamlessly.
