NSCA Connection Refused

I have installed nagios 3 on ubuntu 12.04 and configured the NSCA Server running on port 5667. See service listening below.

I have installed the latest 64-bit NSClient++ client. I have followed all the documentation on getting NSCA passive checks, but I still get an error message stating connection refused. I have tested by telneting to the port and that works fine. I noticed that the nscaclient is not picking up the address from the nsclient.ini file that I specified. I have tried the directive such as address=, nsca_host=, host= . None seem to work. See below for error.

Notice the host a specified in my nsclient.ini config file is not showing up, it's blank for host.

Below is my config. I have changed the host name in this post so if you try it won't work.

Have you tried using the actual ip address for the nsca server, or just the dns name?

Yes, I have tried both IP and name.

You mentioned it was the newest version, so I presume you are running 0.4.x? You may want to try nsclient 0.3.9 as we find it to be more stable for the time being. I will try to dig up the current syntax for for nsca's config in the nsclient.ini file, as it has been a moving target through nsclient versions.
