How to monitor Oracle database instances

Post by Ladi »

Hi,

Please can you assist me step by step on how to monitor an oracle database instances on Nagios. We have Nagios core box that is running already and i have installed nagios client already on the server, but my boss just informed me that we need to monitor the two instances that we had on the database. I will appreciate if you can assist me in achieving this.

I await your response.

Many Thanks,
Ladi

There are a number of oracle plugins on the exchange: http://exchange.nagios.org/index.php?op ... ord=oracle

The favorite of the community seems to be: http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Pl ... th/details
check_oracle_health
It requires a package from oracle and is not the easiest plugin to set up, but it is very robust. Peruse the consol labs documentation and let us know if you have any questions.

No problem. If you have any issues with the plugin, open a new thread. Best of luck.
