execv() and Nagios 3.4.x

Post by -smint- »

I have been tasked with upgrading our current Nagios instance from 3.3.1 to 3.4.x and I have a couple questions.
1.) I've been asked to quantify the improvements that using execv() offers, ie: speed etc. How much of an improvement are users seeing??
2.) Does 3.4.3 still use execv() or has that been rolled back and if so is 3.4.3 still a worthwhile upgrade or should I wait??

Thanks

This is probably something best posed to the developers of core directly, and they are far better reached via the core mailing list. However a brief look at 3.50 (latest stable) does not seem to use execv for any operations. I would say the upgrade is most definitely worth it, as its a minimal change from an administration standpoint, but many bugs have been resolved.
